People often do something extraordinary with such a big model as the Kraken, and so did I. There’s some crazy conversions out there, and while I didn’t really go down that road, I think my kraken ended up pretty good and quite unique, while still not taking a crazy amount of time to do. This isn’t exactly something I did yesterday. It has been done for quite some time, but I never really got all the WIP photos together. And since I have this blog, why not just put them on here 🙂
I thought a great deal about what to do with all that space on the front of the model and ended up with an idea involving 100ish skulls. So I bought 100 skulls and a gory base, got hold of a Warhammer Fantasy skeleton warrior and some green stuff. This is what came out of it:
It looks great. Those skulls are a really interesting way to break up the huge flat spaces on the front there. I like the base too; did you cast it yourself or is commercial?
Thank you very much 🙂 I’m very pleased with the way it ended out, so I might reuse the idea if it makes sense on another model at some point. The Kraken looks a bit dull if you don’t do anything special on all the empty plates I think. I bought the base from Secret Weapon Miniatures, where I also bought all the skulls.
